Welcome to Flying Languages!

We love learning languages and cultures while traveling, working, and just having fun.

Hi! I'm Mike. I've lived in several countries around the world before I got married. Typically, I arrived in country with near-zero language preparation (not the best idea, btw). Trial by fire might be my life motto.

Now that I am older and wiser (well, older is for certain, at least) and we are considering world schooling (more about that later), I started thinking about language learning again.

I was shocked to learn that not much has changed in the world of language learning in the last 20 years! So, I am on a mission.. my goal is to help 1 million people learn a new language!

You know those people who seem to learn an entirely new language while brushing their teeth? Yah, me neither. I see experts, gurus, shaman, etc that speak 10, 20, 30 languages. I am not one of them.

I need to read, write, speak, and hear a language to learn it... and it needs to be fun or I just won't do it.

Does this sound like you?

If yes, then you're in the right place!

What makes Flying Languages different?

  1. Making it fun — watch videos that you find interesting as the primary driver to help you learn. We are a collection of passionate people who are curating engaging videos on various topics that we can use to teach you useful language lessons.
  2. Going native — not only do we only choose videos that were made by native speakers for you to watch, we only hire native-speaking language professionals to create our content.
  3. Keeping it super simple — we transcribe every video and translate it into English. And, for those who are learning English, we translate these videos back into the core languages we serve. Further, we provide dictionary data explaining how each word in the video is used and pronounced. Re-play videos to your heart's content, until you grasp every nuance.
  4. Helping hands — I wish I had a nickel for every time I struggled to understand some movie, song, or passage in a book just to learn that the native speaker had made a mistake or was connoting something obscure. I would be rich! Our language professionals have used our video library to created courses to make teaching points and lesson vocabulary, so you don't spend hours attempting to divine meaning on your own.
  5. Keeping it honest — how many times have you tried a new tool, book, or school and wished you had done more research before paying. We've all been there. We
