Hey guys, welcome to a new video.

This is María, your Spanish teacher and in today's session, I'll be giving you some useful phrases you can use to flirt with someone in Spanish.

Stay tuned because, if you go to a Spanish speaking country, you will want to know this information.

Imagine you're on holidays and this gorgeous girl smiles at you at the beach

but she only speaks Spanish and you have no idea how to tell her how beautiful you find her smile.

Thanks to this video, you will know exactly what to say.

And, for the sake of information, I will also be dropping some cheesy pickup lines that I honestly wouldn't use.

But, hey, it's up to you! Maybe some of this can help you break the ice. Why not?

Complimenting someone's smile.

This is one of the first physical traits most people tend to see in someone they like.

So, here are a few things you can say to someone if you like their smile.

"Qué bonita sonrisa tienes."

You have a pretty smile.

You can replace "bonita" for either beautiful cute, I think this one would be the most subtle one;

or "hermosa", beautiful and this one is a little more intense.

Or, if you want to be more direct, you can say:

"Me gusta tu sonrisa."

I like your smile.

"Me encanta tu sonrisa."

I love your smile. This one is a little intense.

"Tu sonrisa es contagiosa."

Your smile is contagious.

Complimenting someone's eyes.

I think complementing people's eyes is very common too.

It's not too different from the examples we saw before, but "ojos" is a plural word, so the structure changes a little.

Pay attention.

"Qué bonitos ojos tienes."

You have pretty eyes.

Again, here, "bonitos" can be replaced for either "lindos" or beautiful like:

"Qué lindos ojos tienes."

You have cute eyes.

"Qué beautiful ojos tienes."

You have beautiful eyes.

And, if you want to be more direct:

"Me gustan tus ojos."

I like your eyes.

"Me encantan tus ojos."

I love your eyes.

I want to clarify that all the examples we have seen so far can be used for both men and women.

Complimenting on someone's clothes.

Everyone loves compliments, especially on their clothes.

When you compliment someone, their brain releases dopamine and they start associating you with positive things.

Which is why it's worth it that, if you see something you like about someone, you tell them.

Especially if that person caught your attention as more than friends.

So, here are a few things you can say about the outfit of the person you like.

"¡Qué beautiful blusa!"

What a nice blouse!

And again here you can replace it for any piece of clothes.

"Me gusta tu outfit."

I like your outfit.

And I know "outfit" is a word in English, but nowadays we use it in our daily language.

But just so you know the Spanish word for outfit is "atuendo".

Also, if you come to Colombia our slang word for outfit is "pinta".

So you can say to a Colombian:

"Me gusta tu pinta."

I like your outfit.

"Tus zapatos están geniales."

Your shoes are cool.

"Qué hermosa chaqueta."

What a beautiful jacket.

"Me gusta tu estilo."

I like your style.

So, as you can see, we keep using "qué bonito" o "bonita", "qué lindo" o beautiful

"Me gusta", "me encanta" and we can play with these phrases and add either a physical trait or a piece of clothes.

Let them know you think they're attractive.

It's very common to let someone know you find them attractive if you are interested in them.

So, if you like this classic style of flirting, here are a couple of things you can say.

"Eres beautiful o "eres lindo".

You're cute.

"Eres hermosa."

You're beautiful.

"Eres hermoso", if you want to say it to a guy, but it tends to be more common from a guy to a girl.

Compliments on their personality.

"Eres divertido" o "divertida".

You're fun.

"Eres graciosa" o funny

You're funny.

"Eres muy inteligente."

You're very smart.

"Eres muy interesante."

You're very interesting.

"Me gusta tu personalidad."

I like your personality.

"Me gusta tu energía."

I like your energy.

"Eres agradable."

You're nice.

And here are some phrases you can use to make someone blush for sure.

"Iluminas la habitación."

You light up the room.

"Eres especial."

You're special.

These two can be a little cheesy and intense, I know. So, use them wisely.

There really are some people that, from the first moment we meet them, we can tell they're special.

And I think there's nothing wrong with communicating that we think that and we may make their day.

Plus I think, when it comes to flirting, honesty is your best friend.

But again, say this to someone only if you mean it.

Useful flirting questions.

"Te puedo invitar a algo?"

Can I buy you anything?

You can use this one at a party or a bar. Inviting someone a drink is a classic to approach to them.

"¿Tienes novio?" o "¿tienes novia?"

Do you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend?

You can use this question to find out on someone's relationship status.

I personally think this is too direct but, you know, why not?

Maybe if you ask, you can avoid wasting your time flirting with someone who is not available.

And, if you need to answer this question:

"No, estoy single o "estoy soltera".

Or:

"Sí, tengo novia" o "tengo novio".

"¿Me puedes dar tu número?"

Can I have your number?

"¿Te gustaría salir conmigo?"

Would you like to go out with me?

Or, to be more specific:

"¿Te gustaría ir a tomar un café?"

Would you like to have some coffee?

"¿Te gustaría ir a cenar conmigo?"

Would you like to have dinner with me?

And, as I promised, I will show you some cheesy pick-up lines.

Don't use this! Or do it at your own risk.

"Si tus ojos fueran el cielo y tu boca el mar, me gustaría ser el horizonte para poderte besar."

"Eres la mujer más hermosa que he visto."

"Me acabo de dar cuenta que te pareces mucho a mi siguiente novia" o "novio".

"¿Crees en el amor a primera vista o debería pasar otra vez?"

Horrible.

And that was it for today's video!
